Wednesdays and Saturdays 11:00-12:00

We will be handing out dog and cat food Wednesdays and Saturdays  from 11-12  to those in need. This is drive up only. We will have Someone outside ready to assist and bring food to your vehicle.  We will try to provide this service twice a week if possible. You can always call in advance or email and let us know how many pets you have so we have your bags ready. If you are unable to drive or leave your home we can set up someone to deliver pet food to you. We want to help the community however we can and keep our pets fed and happy.
Thank you and stay safe

We are Temporarily Closed

Pet Adoption League of Gem County is currently Closed to the Public

Pet Adoption League of Gem County is temporarily closed for business while Idaho is under a Stay at Home Order. We will monitor COVID-19 updates and continue to develop our policies and procedures to reflect changes. Our goal is to provide the best care possible to our animals, while being able to help our community and protect our volunteers. We greatly appreciate your patience in this challenging time. The single best way to help the shelter is through a monetary donation.

What does this mean for Shelter Services?

Thank you so much for all of your patience during this difficult time as we work towards creating solutions to some of the barriers we are facing amid the COVID-19 Stay At Home Order. We are still navigating shelter services and how we will modify them to provide effective but safe support for our community and the animals in our care. As of March 27, 2020 the following changes in shelter services will go into place. These are all new processes for us, so some things may change as we find them to be effective/ineffective. For the most updated information please check petadoptionleagueofgc.com

Adoptions By Appointment Only

You can view our dogs and cats on our website, Petfinder or Facebook. All adoptions will now be completed by appointment only. To start the adoption process please email palofgc@gmail.com and request an adoption application. We will email a form that you can fill out and return to us via email. Once your adoption application is submitted, we will be in touch with you to schedule your visit to the shelter to meet with your adoptable pet. We will not allow multiple adopters in the building at one time.

We are not accepting any public stray drop offs at this time. Animals that are brought into our care from animal control or the police department will go through the same stray hold process as usual and will remain on hold for 5 nights before becoming available for adoption. If you have found a stray, we recommend: looking for the owner in your area, leave us a voice mail, email or facebook comment and we will post the pet as missing on our Facebook lost and found pages, have the animal scanned for a microchip (vet clinic), posting the pet as found on Petfinder. If needed, please call the police department.

Animal Food pantry

There is no walk-in service or public access at this time. If you need pet food, please call and leave a contact number and we will set up a time to meet you. Food will be handed to you at the gate on the north side of the building. It is important that you be on time to pick up the food, or it will be returned to our pantry and made available to others.

Thank you for your understanding!
