What This Means

At the end of the month, we had 6 dogs and 6 cats in the shelter and 7 dogs and 15 cats in foster care.

Dogs and cats come to us in a variety of ways. The city police and citizens bring us strays and owners surrender animals. We also get animals back from adoptive families occasionally.

Volunteer Stats for January 2026

PAL is a mostly volunteer-managed pet shelter. We rely on our volunteers for walking dogs, cleaning kennels, scooping out litter boxes, and answering the phone. But the job is so much more than that. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of this place. They do everything from comforting the anxious to roughing up the rowdies.

In January, 76 volunteers worked 761.75 hours.

Wouldn't you like to join in the fun? Here's what it takes to become a volunteer.
