Did You Find a Stray Dog? Here's what you do:
Stray Dogs in City Limits
Call Emmett City Police dispatch (208) 365-3521. We have a contract with the city and they must bring in the stray, we cannot accept them directly from the public. The police have access to the shelter 24/7.
Stray Dogs in Gem County, outside City Limits
Call us to verify we are open (208) 365-1359. We can only accept strays during office hours. If we are at maximum capacity we may ask if you are able to keep the stray while we try to find the owner.
Stray Cats
Call us (208) 365-1359 during office hours.
Report Your Lost Pet
If your dog is missing from within city limits, call Emmett City Police dispatch (208) 365-3521 to see if they picked up your dog. The police have access to the shelter 24/7.
If you are missing your cat or dog, call us (208) 365-1359. Leave your name, phone number, a description of the animal, and its last known location.
We try to post all strays that come into our facility here and on our public Facebook page using the hashtag #gemstray.
We also do courtesy posts for lost and found pets. Use Facebook Messenger or call us (208) 365-1359 with details about your situation.

Policies & Fees
Our facility serves the City of Emmett and Gem County, and our policies and fees vary depending on where a pet was found and who brought it to us.
If a stray is not claimed after 5 days, he/she becomes available for adoption and is removed from this page. We try our best to find pet owners.
Retrieve Your Pet
If the pet was brought to us by Emmett Police Department, call them to retrieve your pet (208) 365-3521. The Emmett Police can access the shelter 24/7 and will reunite you with your pet.
If the Emmett Police did not bring in your pet, contact us; leave your name, phone number, and description of your pet. Come to the shelter during office hours to retrieve your pet. If it's after hours, contact us via Facebook Messenger and/or email palofgc@gmail.com and we will attempt to make after-hours arrangements.
